Powers Ministries is a service orientated,
faith centered, Bible based, Non-denominational Christian ministry
in association with local, state, and national ministries and non-profit
organizations, whose mission is to provide an empowering and encompassing
faith orientated clergical service to those in need – including
weddings, marriage vow renewals, baptisms, christenings, infant adoption
and dedication celebrations, house blessings, invocations and convocations
for special events, seminars and corporate functions. Pre-marital
and post-nuptial counseling services. Memorials/Celebration of Life
on land and at sea.
Rev. Powers received his Doctorates in
Psychology and Theology from California Western University San Diego
and Santa Ana campus in 1981 and 1986 respectively. He is also a graduate
of Calvary Chapel School of Ministry Vista, California. Acting as
the Chaplain for the Leukemia Society of America he was selected as
Man of the Year in 1988 by the San Diego and Hawaii Chapters as a
facilitator for the family support groups and home and hospital visitation
corps. Rev. Powers is a lifetime member of the National Chaplains
Association. Since 1993 Rev. Powers has been active in Marriage Ministries
International, more recently completing the Prepare / Enrich Program
and certified at Bethel Seminary in San Diego, CA. Powers
Ministries in the News2008 Dr. Powers was voted San Diego's most
valuable minister by the San Diego Wedding Professionals (Association
of Bridal Consultants). Rev Powers was voted the 2008 Bridalinsider.com
People’s Choice Awards for San Diego Wedding Vendors. The People's
Choice Awards are the highest recognition given to a wedding vendor
because they are awarded by the people; the local brides and grooms
that have used their services.
Since 1991, Rev. Powers has been a "Notary
Public Minister" appointed and approved to issue for the convenience
of his couples the Confidential Marriage License should they choose
this service.
Each year Rev. Powers officiates approximately 300 weddings and provides additional Chaplaincy services in the Southern California area; baptisms, dedications, christenings, funeral and memorial services. As a non-denominational Chaplain he is called upon by many families and couples with differing and varied beliefs and traditions to facilitate their desires with a sensitive and spiritual focus.
Rev. Powers recently revised and released his book "The Romance of The Wedding Ceremony" published as a guide and resource for couples to compose and personalize their wedding ceremonies. His book is now used by seminaries as an adjunct to their ministerial training as well as clergy in many fields. His book as well as numerous wedding ceremonies are available for use and review by his clients who desire to participate in creating their own unique wedding ceremony.
